Welcome to Booku ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Booku website and services located at booku.design. By accessing or using our services, you agree to these terms.

1. Service Description

Booku allows you to create customized stories featuring a child, their family, or friends.

You can create a free preview of your book before paying, and no account is required to see it. We ask you to create an account only when you choose to buy the full book.
Stories and illustrations are generated with the help of AI. The digital book is generated automatically with editorial and content-safety safeguards built in.
The final digital product is a personalized storybook in PDF format, typically delivered within a short time of generation.
You may optionally order a printed (hardcover) copy of your book. Before a hardcover is printed, a human editor reviews the book. Printed books are produced on demand and shipped to you; printing and shipping are subject to separate charges and timelines — see our Shipping Policy.

2. User Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.

3. Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain ownership of the personal details and preferences you provide (child's name, description, interests, etc.).
Generated Content: Stories and illustrations generated through our service are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use upon purchase.
Our Platform: The Booku platform, design, code, and branding are owned by Mind Technologies s.r.o.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use our service to generate inappropriate, harmful, or offensive content.
Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
Share account credentials with third parties.

5. Payments and Pricing

Story previews are provided free of charge, with no account or payment required.
Full illustrated books are available for purchase, with an optional printed (hardcover) copy.
All prices are displayed in the applicable currency at the time of purchase. Shipping costs for printed books are shown at checkout and described in our Shipping Policy.
Payment is processed securely through Stripe.
Purchases are covered by the happiness guarantee described in our Refund Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

Our platform relies on the following third-party providers:

Google (Gemini via Vertex AI) and OpenAI — AI story and illustration generation and automated quality checks. Generation may be processed in data centres outside the European Economic Area; see our Privacy Policy (International Data Transfers) for the safeguards that apply.
Firebase / Google Cloud — Authentication, data storage, and hosting
Stripe — Payment processing
Lulu — Print-on-demand production and shipping of printed books
Resend — Transactional email delivery

Each provider operates under its own terms of service and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for what data each provider receives.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mind Technologies s.r.o. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Stories are intended for entertainment and inspiration only.

We take precautions, but AI may occasionally produce unexpected or inappropriate results. Please review your book before sharing with children.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Czech Republic.
