Who will be in the book?

Your child is the hero. Who should be drawn beside them?

  • Each sentence, then its translation
  • Half the length of a regular book
  • Second language: any of 36
  • Free cover: no card, no sign-up

Learn complete sentences, not just individual words

Traditional bilingual books often show the story in one language and the full translation on the next page. This works well for children who already understand the second language.

Booku helps children learn from the very beginning. Each sentence is followed by its translation, so your child understands the meaning first, then hears how to say it in a new language.

This helps children remember useful everyday phrases, complete sentences, and natural sentence patterns they can use in real life.

  • A boy and his grandma at the feet of a gigantic brachiosaurus
    1. Around the bend stood a long, long neck. It went right up into the sky.

За поворотом тропы стояла длинная-длинная шея. Она уходила прямо в небо.

    2. "That's a brachiosaurus!" said Grandma. The big head came down to Oliver.

      — Это брахиозавр! — сказала бабушка. Большая голова опустилась к Оливеру.

    3. It had kind, sleepy eyes. Rustle-rustle… peep!

У неё были добрые сонные глаза. Шурх-шурх… пип!

    4. Who is peeping in the bushes?

      Кто пищит в кустах?

  • A boy on hot sand points at a running velociraptor with ginger feathers
    1. Then came the hot sands. Something fast raced past.

Дальше начались горячие пески. Мимо промчался кто-то быстрый.

    2. It was as big as a dog. "That's a velociraptor," said Grandma.

Он был размером с собаку. — Это велоцираптор, — сказала бабушка.

    3. The velociraptor shook itself. It had ginger feathers!

Велоцираптор встряхнулся. У него были рыжие перья!

    4. Who does it look like?

      На кого же он похож?

  • A boy and his grandma hide behind a boulder while a tyrannosaurus walks past
    1. STOMP. STOMP. STOMP. The ground shook.

      ТОП. ТОП. ТОП. Земля задрожала.

    2. Oliver was scared, but he listened. The steps came from the left.

Оливеру было страшно, но он слушал. Шаги шли слева.

    3. He took Grandma's hand. They hid behind a big rock.

Он взял бабушку за руку. Они спрятались за большим камнем.

    4. The T. rex walked right past. "Well done!" whispered Grandma.

Тираннозавр прошёл мимо. — Ты молодец! — шепнула бабушка.

This is a demo book we made ourselves to show the format. In yours, the heroes are your child and your family.

Why it makes a language easier

  • The translation sits right below

No dictionary, no retelling in your own words. Read a sentence, then read the same sentence in the other language.

  • Short, simple sentences

One idea per sentence, everyday words. Easy to read aloud — even if you don't speak the second language much better than your child.

  • Your child is the hero

Their name and face on every page. Kids ask for this book again and again — and the words come back with it.

Questions parents ask

Which languages can I choose?

The main language is English or Russian: the cover is in it, and every sentence starts in it. The second is one of 36 languages — Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Polish, Estonian, Latvian and more. For now only languages written in Latin, Cyrillic or Greek letters; Georgian, Armenian, Hebrew and Arabic aren't available yet.

How is it different from a regular Booku book?

The text is half as long and simpler: short sentences, everyday words. Every sentence is followed by its translation. The illustrations, cover and printing are the same.

Is the translation done by a person?

By AI, sentence by sentence, keeping the same simple words. If a line sounds off, write to us and we'll fix it.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. No card, no sign-up. You see the cover with your child on it and then decide.

What age is it for?

Ages 3–8. The younger the child, the shorter the sentences on each page.

What happens to the photos?

They're used only for the illustrations. We don't sell them, share them or train AI on them. Ask and we'll delete them.

A book they want to read in two languages

Their own story, their name on every page — and a new word in every sentence.
